Program Note
Cherry Blossoms was commissioned and premiered by “Cherry” Yu Yuanchun (于源春), pipa virtuoso, for the occasion of her solo concert at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, on May 7, 2011.
A reviewer at the premiere shared this observation: “This work can be said to be a spark from the collision of Eastern and Western languages, a model of cultural fusion” (Sina blog, 2011).
In October 2016, the Central Conservatory of Music Press published Cherry Blossoms as part of the collection Selected Works for Pipa Composed by Anthony Paul De Ritis (芮笛诗，琵琶作品选).
